So in the last couple days I started noticing small jolts as if the car abruptly slowed down for a split second... Today I'm driving along and foot is just rested on the pedal when I fealt a pretty big jolt. It was VERY noticable... anyone have suggestions as to why other than the tranny is screwed?

How do you reset the tranny again?

K I thought it was gone but now it happened twice in a row (like 10 seconds after each other). Do you mean the filter and oil for the tranny? I also noticed some fluid underneath the car.

Fluid, uh o...

I had the same problem, got a new gasket for the trans pan, new oil... problem was not solved, kept leaking, I went ahead and replaced it with a brand new pan (which comes with the built in filter) To change the filter, you change the WHOLE pan... go figure... $600 later the problem was rectifed.

Yup. there's a hairline fracture (prob. from bottoming out) in the trans pan and it has to be replaced. at the shop right now but it's costing me 1100
