Revealing my secret (upcoming) mod.......

One day, I was watching TV and saw a special on K&N airfilters.
I already have their replacementfilter. But after seeing the special on TV, I wanted more.
I looked at their internet-site and found out that they didn't have more than just the replacement-filter for my car.
I phoned them to check things out. But the internet-site was right

But........
The K&N company I called here in the Netherlands is a research and development centre for K&N.
They offered, that if they could borrow my car, they would make a proto type for the 645
In return they offer me the new filter for free

So, now the prototype is finisched. They tested it on the Dyno. It gives an overall gain of about 7HP at the rear wheels . Which will even be a bit better on the road, because they got better/lower air-temperature difference on the road than on the Dyno.

Next thing is that they are going to see if it fits on the US spec 645 and the 545 (that's where andy545 comes in). After that, they are making a first unpainted production model at the US factory to fit on my car. If everything fits perfect, they are taking it into production (and send me a painted housing).

This is just the proto-type. The final production-type is yet to be made.
K&N is a great name in airfilters.
It is not about the looks but about performance!
They went over al the details on how they develop and test their filters with me. Which is, I must say, very scientifically approved. Like they test on a Dyno at a constant room temperauture of 19 degrees celcius. They measure airtemperature differences etc etc.

well ppl that got the afe intake, got similar if not better numbers... plus the looks with the afe... its a obvious choice.

Than again like you said, its just a prototype...

Doc has contacted me about this and I have agreed and looking forward to visit the K&N research center after contacting the engineer there to develop the 545i prototype. I must say I am skeptical as I have been in the past about air filters which (also) suck up internal warm ambient air, but will give them a chance to prove it on the dyno with a before and after run.

Will hopefully have some results in November.
