no. I'm talking about drilling 2 holes in the back of your steering wheel and adding push buttons which allows you to shift as if you were using paddles. looks like this

lol it is complicated! furthermore, if you got the parts from bmw to make it work, it would cost you more than what I sell the kit for incl. shipping so there's virtually no point to attempt this yourself

Here ya go buddy: http://www.aftermarketbulbsshop.com/BMW-Pa...-p/bmw-pa-r.htm

You can select just the paddles you need + the Paddle Shift Retrofit Kit of course which is what you'll need to make this work in the first place

alpinaandy, Welcome to the forum. Any chance you can let me know how your steering wheel install went? I have differences between the paddle shift wheel I bought and the steering wheel on my MY04 645 so have not been brave enough to try the swap out.

Thanks

John.

thanks guys,

The swap ain't easy, but not too bad. I had to grind off the alloy lug and screw on the white plastic lug from the original 645 wheel, then drill a hole and add a bolt with a plastic end cap to copy the long round pin on the original wheel.

Sorry I didn't take any pics, but if you've seen the back of both wheels you shoud see what I mean. i'm told if you change the "slip ring"?? part then you don't need to mod the wheel.

This brings me nicely onto my next question, Schulrog, do i need to change the "slip ring" part for the paddles to work? if so i've just stuffed a M6 wheel haven't I!
