My Ride: 2007 M6, cabriolet, black saphire metallic, black merino leather, carbon fiber black dash & trim, HUD, comfort access, SAT
I just bought a 2007 M6, and I am looking for info about changes that can be made to the car electronically to enhance the performance. I am holding off the Dinan upgrade until I get all the performance improvements from the stock system.
For example, I have heard that there is a hack to the firmware to remove the limiters, and a chip change that ups the horsepower?? Is that true? Any info on this? Does this void the warranty?
Any other tricks would be appreciated.

Unless you have a computer with a BMW diagnostic cable then there is no way to access your DME your self.
As of 1996 BMW's no longer use replace "chips" they are reprogrammed using new software.
Why go through any hassle or uncertanty if Dinans software will cover everything you are looking to enhance and you can get it done at your local dealer probably next month

there are a number of options that can improve performace to the M6, but none are 'tricks'....you can have the ECU flashed with new software to remove the limit for example; also can potentially slightly increase HP by raising the Rev limited to increase RPMs allowed...also the removal of the charcoal filters will produce slight gains...
do searches and readup here for all that is possible and that has already been done by others: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=53
