at least one product year after the 335i (if) appears

ZSG will proly first come out in the m3 in 2007/2008 so dont expect it till 2009-2010,
maybe it will come out straight for the F10 coupe

F10 coupe? I am aware of the F12 6er series coupe, but F10 has been reserved for 5 series limo.

Not a big deal at all On the ZSG, do you think it is destined to be the "Performance" tranny or the "drivability" (smooth shifting) tranny. If coming in the M3 as you postulate it would appear it is the "perfomance" they are after.

i really cant see it being like the ///m zsg transmission. I think it will be similar to the m3 smg / 645i smg, similar technology but less gizmos and slower shift speeds (as in more smooth) on the 6 series.

With dual clutch they can and i bet they will make it almost as an automatic with very smooth shifts on the 6series and much more aggressive shifts on the m3

I wish I had a link to this, but the way I understood this is that BMW will be offering the ZSG transmission in their regular lineup of cars while they are going to continue to develop and improve SMG for the M division only. Thus, SMG is going away. You'll still find them but only offered in M cars.
