BMW is finalizing the buyback of my E60 now and I am starting to like the 645 but I see it is much heavier.

Granted it is a Coupe but does it drive sporty like our E60 Sports?

Of course dealer does not have one to drive which is what is generating this post.

I am deliberating to wait for the 550 or just grab a 645ci

The 645i is marginally quicker than the 545i and YES it handles as well as the sport. In fact, given it's lower centre of gravity it's more handy in the twisties.

I'd certainly recommend the switch

Howcome they buy it back?

If you do not need the 4 doors go for the 645Ci.
It will be a classic and the 2d coupes will sell for more $$ when used.

Yes, cobradav drives a 645 and seems very pleased with it. If he doesn't see your post, send him a PM through the forum. Just find his name under members.

You say heavier:
Model 645Ci 545i
Weight - Manual 3781 3803
Weight - Auto 3792 3814

It's a killer car. I tested a 545 as like u I could not get ahold of a 645 to test drive. But based on that 545 test I knew the 6er would be more sporty. I have no need for 4 doors so there was no question what I wanted. The 6er esthetics captured me and everything else is a bonus.

I did see someone switch from a 5er to a 6er and suggested he could recline his seat in the 5er more and there was another niggle but holy cow seat reclining I never sleep in my car (well, not since I was a teenager and that was long, long, long ago)

It has a different rear end ratio (higher numerically) and the transmission gearings are the same as 545 (manual to manual - SMG to SMG - Auto to Auto) so you are in higher revs in each gear for same speed. Quicker acceleration, probably little less MPG but we are lighter (not meaningful in this case for mileage). Slightly lower CL. tracks like a slot car.

Far more exclusive. Since I have had mine (6 months) only seen 6 others (5 in Miami) one in my county although dealer says he sold 10 others within county.

Was side by side with Bentley Coupe today for a couple of miles along Cocoa Beach. More heads turned to my 6er than the Bentley (BMW mystic?)

Recent article by Forbes has 6er amoungst top 10 in residual value.

GET IT u won't be sorry. And BTW, if enough of us 6ers are on E60.net Lomaq may let us have our own Forum

Thanks for the reply guys I guess the dealer misled me

they said the car is over 4k pounds, is slower than the 545i and feels very heavy.

I need to drive one ASAP, any suggestions on how to get a test drive on one?

I have no specs or bothered to look it up thats why I asked firshand impressions.

I like the car and best bet is i can have Red Leather Seats.

I think White with Red will look HOW, 20' Radenengie wheels in Silver and its done.

Also I do not need 4 doors, young and single and no Kids.

Buyback because the 545 was just in the shop too long over and over again, very frustrating.

I heard on the roadfly board a few 6 series members had alot of issues and had buyback too, and now they went o MB, like that is so much more reliable these days.

Certainly can't dispute those guys who seemed to have problems with their 6's, but do keep in mind that these message boards, and in particular Roadfly, tend to attract folks with problems looking for solutions. Like my years in the restaurant business, you usually only hear from those folks who have a problem. The happy customers you rarely hear from, they just come back for more...

I traded my 05 530i in on a 645Cic (05) and except for the ability to sleep in the 5 and the ability to hang up a suit, I am glad I got the 6.

Although with the Coupe, I have seen coat hangers in the brochure.

No complaints about fit, feel or anything else. Minor Idrive quirks exist, just like the 5. Everything else seems much more "ironed out" than the 5.
