The first-generation BMW 7 Series was a major leap forward for the brand. Hop into an E23, and the interior design will have you thinking you’re in a car 15 years newer. This was the first BMW model that drastically demonstrated the company was ahead of its time. Before the 7 Series was introduced in 1977, BMW was known for making great, or rather, ultimate driving machines, but the 7 Series went even further, giving its owners the confidence in knowing that 10 or 15 years down the road, their car would still be one of the most advanced vehicles out there.

Imagine living in the 70s and rolling around in a 7 Series with electric rear seats and power headrests. You’d feel 100,000 time zones ahead of reality. The DeLorean DMC-12 may have been the time traveler in the movies, but in real life, it was the BMW 7 Series.
