First off, if you needed any more proof that “green” doesn’t have to mean “egg shaped”, look no further. The styling of the i8 sports car is it’s main hook, but it’s the story behind the looks that’s really interesting. Most startling is the fact that this sexy thing is a sports car that, according to their press event yesterday, has the performance of an M3. Now that’s impressive, considering it’s supposed to return the mileage of a small city car.
BMW isn’t the only one doing this either. Essentially every major car manufacturer has sports car with hybrid capabilities in the works. Whether this is because of CAFE, or whatever is irrelevant. What it does mean is that you can go fast and drive harder for longer before filling up. If you’re asking me, that sounds like the formula for winning races. Suddenly, “green” seems a lot more appealing.
