We only have silhouette images and small peeks of sheet-metal, but the new 5-series is about to officially break cover. Banking on the success of the F10 BMW 5-series, the newest iteration — set to be codenamed G30 — could be unveiled as soon as the Paris Motor Show. That seems likely, but there is no confirmation of that just yet.

In the video below, we see BMW’s atypical association with athletic sports, so as to hint at the nature of the car’s performance. BMW’s usual over-saturation of models can be expected with xDrive models, a wide range of engines, and an assumed GT version. We’d also expect the new car to hop on the scales a bit lighter than the outgoing model, while packing the tech that is offered in the current flagship 7-series.

Though renderings have been touted, this is the first official view we have from BMW. Unfortunately, it leaves out one important element: we’re still in the dark over what the interior will look like. That said, trickle down design cues from the 7-series are expected, with the newest generation of iDrive included in the deal.
