The new M5 has a lot of power. In fact, the truth is that it’s probably underated. That said, the fact that someone was able to roll up to a drag strip and lay down an 11.78 second quarter mile is insane. This isn’t just idle chatter on the internet either. The dude provided his timeslip to prove it.
11.78 seconds with a 120mph trap speed. For reference, the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera does it in 11.6 seconds.The owner says that he wasn’t entirely familiar with the car’s launch control and could probably do better on another run. For a car as big as the M5, that’s impressive. These times aren’t out of line with the tests of reviewers like Car and Driver. They clocked it at 11.9 seconds in a comparison test.
Still, that just makes these figures more impressive. If there were any questions about the M5 was losing it’s edge, they’ve definitely been answered now.
