Special Edition BMW i8: Protonic Red Edition

The BMW i8 has been with us for a year and a bit, and now there’s a new special edition that’s about to strut into the public eye at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The Protonic Red Edition features unique interior and exterior color options including the very neat usage of red, which is unsurprisingly called “Protonic Red.” In addition, the contrasting trim colors are not blue, as are typical with BMW i cars, but rather Frozen Grey Metallic. This is complimented further by exclusive interior appointments including special stitching — in red of course.

The rest of the Protonic Red i8 will be familiar to most of us, with no other changes to the power unit. And that’s not a problem. The gasoline hybrid engine has been an award-winning combination from day one. After debuting at the Geneva show in 2014, it has gone on to win the hearts and minds of journalists worldwide.

With Protonic Red being the next special edition, is it an obvious question to see if M will try and get their hands on one? Only time will tell.
