BMW M850I XDRIVE

M850I xDrive will arrive at dealers on December 8 and cost $112,895 before some sweet options.

There’s a reason we are as excited about the new 8 Series as everyone else. The number 8 has always signified the top of BMW’s range, and the new 8 Series promises to be a Grand Tourer deserving of the number. The good news is that if you’re flush with cash and ready to buy, then BMW has announced the standard M850i xDrive Coupe will be making it’s way into showrooms on December 8 this year.

We can’t think of a more promising looking way to head across country to visit family at Christmas. The adaptive suspension and luxurious driver-orientated cabin should leave it’s occupants calm and rested on the way, then the 523-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 should work well for a blistering getaway if the in-laws start fighting. It’ll sound good taking off in a hurry as well, with the adjustable sports exhaust system coming as standard along with M Sport brakes and 2 selectable sports modes.

The options BMW has announced include a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic roof to drop the center of gravity even lower, a carbon fiber exterior trim package, and a 1,400 watt Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system. You can also order a start/stop button and audio volume knob, which is a bit odd. Considering the pricing and level of refinement coming as standard it seems a bit strange those are an extra.

The standard M850i xDrive Coupe is priced at $112,895 including the destination and handling charges. Also coming into showrooms in the winter will be the 8 Series classic rival, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. It won’t take long for things to warm up with an AMG version and we already know BMW has a true fire-breathing M version of the 8 Series up its sleeve.
