L.A. Auto Show 2019: BMW Vision M NEXT
BMW’s Vision M NEXT concept will likely never see production, but if you have a 3D printer, you can make your own.
The 2019 L.A. Auto Show runs through Sunday, December 1. Since the show is in our backyard, we decided to roll on down and check things out for ourselves. We weren’t disappointed. BMW had a lot to show off this year. The M2 CS, M5 Competition, and M8 Gran Coupe were all a treat to see in person. However, we were just as excited to finally see BMW’s Vision M NEXT concept up close.
BMW dubbed the car the Vision M NEXT. While seemingly everyone is excited about autonomous car technology, this concept runs counter to that trend. According to BMW, the car is said to be a look at what a driver-focused sports car will look like in the future.
The Vision M NEXT is the newest in a long line of BMW Vision concepts. Each concept has designed to push the envelope of styling and technology while offering a look at the future of the brand.
This particular concept offers some interesting new interactive technology. The tech isn’t a part of the car itself, though. Instead, BMW put some real thought into how BMW fans all over the world can experience the car.
NEXT Posters, Sound Files, and 3D Printer Options
BMW has created a website specifically for the Vision M NEXT. Fans can explore the car’s styling through various concept sketches, and even download a full-size poster of the car that they can print at their local print shop or home.
If you own a 3D printer, it gets even better. BMW has provided downloadable files that will allow BMW fans the world over to print their very own Vision M NEXT. Does anyone have a 3D printer big enough to make a full-sized replica?
Even if you don’t have access to a plotter or a 3D printer, BMW provides other ways in which you can enjoy the Vision M NEXT. Additionally, fans can download a sound file of the Vision M NEXT’s unique “boost sound” composed by Hans Zimmer.
For possibly the first time in history, BMW has made it possible for fans to enjoy their latest concept car from the comfort of their own homes. Of course, if you want to see it for yourself, the L.A. Auto Show is open until December 1.
