M5 vs GT-R vs. Liberty Walk Ferrari
Belgium’s popular Haspengouw Tour tempts high-power cars to race along challenging route.
Europe loves its high-horsepower cars and open stretches of highway. As such, the Haspengouw Tour has proven to be a hit year after year. Starting in Sint-Truiden, in the Haspengouw region of Belgium, the tour leads exotic car and supercar drivers on a nearly 200 mile tour of some of the country’s most beautiful areas. That included a lunch stop at the Chateau de Jemeppe, and finished after a blast through the Belgian Ardennes forests.
What kind of cars show up? Well as you can guess, a new M5 First Edition is the main feature. YouTuber Carvlogger is no stranger to this event having entered the year prior in a different BMW. However, the new M5 is a powerhouse sedan among exotics, and as such, is excited to see it on the tour. Other additional cars include the usual sprinkling of Italian exotica from Ferrari and Lamborghini, the Germans always show up strong with BMW M cars, Mercedes AMGs and of course, all manner of Porches. However, one special surprise came in the form of a McLaren Senna, because there’s always that one car to make any other exotic look tame.
The speed action happens later in the video after all of the eye candy, but its worth the watch and worth the wait. The ending portion of the Haspengouw tour ends in the midst of the gorgeous and twisty roads of the Ardennes Forst. Spirited driving proves the M5 doesn’t even break a sweat keeping up with a mostly stock Nissan GT-R, and a Ferrari 458 with a Liberty Walk kit.
Once the roads straighten out again, the M5 lines up with the GT-R for a few fun races, and they are shockingly close each time. That speaks volumes for the M5, which has more seats, more doors, less aero, etc. But then again, BMW’s M5 has not really had a reputation of disappointment.
