This E46 BMW M3 Is an Avalanche of Horsepower
This E46 M3 Goes From 333 Stock HP to 470 HP … at the Wheels!
Matt Farah, head guru over at The Smoking Tire, started his “One Take” YouTube series a few years ago. If you haven’t checked it out yet, we highly recommend it as one of the best automotive-focused features around. One of his latest drives is this 2002 E46 M3, which still looks timeless and clean after 15 years of hard work on the road.
What makes this particular car so special is what it features under the hood. The owner of the car purchased a Stage One turbo upgrade from the Horsepower Freaks, a company known for their wide array of performance products. When the E46 was new in 2002, it was good for an adequate 333 horsepower. After the Stage One upgrade, the owner claims 470 horsepower at the wheels — quite a difference, to put it lightly.

While watching the video, you can tell turbo lag is undoubtedly present in the low part of the rev range. Other than that caveat, the car actually seems to handle the power quite well, even though it has 99,000 miles on the clock. But that’s just another reason why the E46 M3 is so legendary.
