Alpina Celebrates 50th Anniversary
It’s been 50 years since BMW’s in house tuner, Alpina, has been taking bone stock cars and making them truly, the Ultimate Driving Machines. But it all started with a BMW 1500 and a pair of dual Webber Carburetors.
Now, flash forward 50 years and the company has grown exponentially. Helped along the way by the popularity of motorsports, BMW in general, and the brand’s growth across continental lines, and it becomes easy to see why Alpina has lasted for so long.
But Alpina isn’t just a factory tuner, like the M Performance guys who tend to sacrifice comfort and luxury for speed and noise. No, Alpina more so represents BMW’s luxury side. For Alpina as a company, the blend of subtle performance changes and raising the luxury bar is what they are after; not outright speed, but the best possible combination of the two.
