It’s always good to see where you stand, especially when you’re about to work some voodoo magic, whether that’s going on a diet, making a special recipe, or customizing a car. Before and after photos or videos make for great drama. In this case, Road Test TV is recording drag times for the base F10 BMW M5.

As the video below points out, the base M5 has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In three runs, the car pulls times of 11.89, 11.88, and 11.87 at 120-121 mph. That was all with the launch control off.

“It has been our experience that better times may be obtained with launch control,” Road Test TV wrote in the video description. “However, it is not consistent on stock tires. The M5 is rear wheel drive and has a tendency to spin the stock tires quite a bit when using launch control, which results in slower times.”

We’re definitely looking forward to the “after” video. It’ll be interesting to see what they do with this thing and how fast it gets.
