BMW M5 Touring Sale

Everything’s better with a long roof. This rare super-wagon will provide a whole bunch of fun for its new owner.

If you are yet to see an E34 M5 Touring in person, that’s perfectly fine. This version never made it to the United States, but with import laws allowing cars of this age to be legally imported, we might start seeing a few more. But not a lot more. BMW made fewer than 1,000 worldwide.

Cars from Japan seem to be more popular to import right now, but their volume hasn’t done much in terms of value retention. Value retention is completely different with this E34, however. Already a delightful car to begin with, the second incarnation of the M5 saw the straight-six engine swell to 3.8 liters with output rated at 340. Remember, this was in 1992.

On top of that performance, you could order a Nurburgring Package that boasted some thicker sway bars, active suspension settings, and special wheels and tires. This all increases value. Oh, and did we mention it’s a wagon?

Somehow that’s all worked out to this specific M5 Touring selling for $55,538 on Bring a Trailer. Over the course of its 25-year history on this planet, this M5 covered 65,000 approximate miles (everything is in European measurements) and shows almost no signs of aging. Diamond Schwartz Metallic paint shines well, and the cloth sport seats inside look incredibly clean. But it’s what’s under the hood that counts, and as you would expect, it’s spotless.

One lucky new owner, if you ask us.
