Presenting ESS Tuning's DirectFlash unit for the N54 Engine.


No longer do customers have to remove their ECU / ship it to ESS for tuning. Now you can do it yourself with the DirectFlash handheld flash unit.


The ESS DirectFlash Performance ECU software is a result of extensive testing and exact calibration of ECU parameters to allow considerable performance gains on an otherwise stock car. ESS performance software is developed and tested in the extreme heat in the Arizona desert as well as freezing cold temperatures in Scandinavia. Removed top speed governor is included, and the end user can select between 2 different power levels and cats/no cats options in the DirectFlash unit.


Power is increased by approximately 50hp and 80nm of torque when programmed for premium fuel (91US/96Euro AKA Stage 1). Power is further gained on the Stage 2 map (93US/98Euro) with gains of up to 100hp and 150nm of torque. In addition, throttle response programming is drastically improved over stock.


When ordering this product you will receive 1 ESS DirectFlash handheld programmer which will VIN lock to your car. This unit can be used to program between stock and tuned, and it can also be used to load custom files/race fuel files/updates received from ESS over email. The ESS DirectFlash unit can hold up to 10 tunes + stock, allowing the end user full control over what program they want to run at any given time.

Custom tuning is also available on request, Stage 1 and Stage 2 software will be preloaded into the Direct Flash unit.

Yes, ESS tuning software is available for the whole range of E60 models, but unfortunately only the N54 engine application has the Direct Flash unit available. This means you will be required to remove your ECU to ship it to ESS for reprogramming.
