Please allow us to clarify.
Our factory tells us people steal their photos all the time and send the lower version - which we are now calling the ICE Lite (plastic bodies).
A brief history:
ICE V1 = Metal Bodied 1W overdriven to 3W with external resistors
ICE V2 = Metal Bodied 3W overdriven to 5W with external resistors and high focus lenses
ICE V3 = Plastic Bodied 3W overdriven to 5W without resistors and with high focus lenses
Ice V4 died a quick death when we realize there was no 4W LED.
ICE Lite Pre-06/11 = 3W finned metal body, 3W power, not overdriven - easily confused with the ICE V5 that we've been in testing with for 3 months.
ICE Lite Post 06/11 = 3W plastic body, 3W power, no external resistors (same as eBay parts, but with legitimate warranty)
ICE V5 = Metal Finned Body, 5W power, no overdriven, NO FLICKER at start up, easily confused with copycat photos and (possibly some earlier ICE Lite units) prior ICE lite pre-06/11
ICE V6 = yes, it's planned, will be same body as ICE V5, only will have no flicker, no errors, and will run on a very high end chip and should have 30-40% more output, but will also cost 60-70% more.
So far, in all of our testing, the V5 with no flicker is the brightest of all of them (Mack, it's possible you may have gotten the V5 before we officially released it - not a bad thing when considering you are one of our most valued customers).
Hope that helps.
