got some 3M carbon fiber vinyl from Don last week, enlisted my girlfriend's help and tackled the roof over the weekend.
this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVKxbXINPdo&feature=PlayList&p=FC5AC201CD3 B5783&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=9 was great... just followed along and all want fairly smoothly.
here are the pix
first, cut the vinyl a bit larger than the roof (the size i used was 48" x 63") and cut a slit for the roof fin. open your moonroof.
put a strip of tape near the back of the car.
tare off the backing on the back side first. align the cut slit for the fin then start squeegeeing the vinyl from the fin outwards.
take off the blue tape, flip the vinly towards the back of the car and start peeling back the adhesive. I did this part a bit differently from the youtube video as I only peeled back a section at a time rather than taking all the backing off. this allowed me to take my time and do one section at a time.
make sure to get rid of all the air bubbles as you go along. you can lift the vinyl to remove any creases. squeegy all the seams, then just use a blade to cut off the excess.
fortunately, it was quite warm when I did the roof so the heat from the roof and the sun was able to make the vinyl soft enough to work with. I did not need the heat gun (like shown in the video). Here are pix of the finished product
while I was at it, i also smoked out the red part of the taillight...

Thanks for the kudos!
i've tinted taillights on my cars before, but have never done something this large. the material was actually very easy to work with.
i was lucky in that the weather was quite warm so i didn't need a heat gun. having an extra set of hands is also a must as this is definitely not an one-man job... will be tackling my interior next
