hi guys

just asking a little advise from all the experts out there, i have poor MPG and just been reading up on the internet about cleaning the MAF and bought some spray solution to do it. Loads of ppl swear that cleaning it improves MPG, but where on a 525D (2005) is it located in the engine bay?

AND once removed and reconnected will this make the engine management light come on?

AND has any one done this before on their E60? and where where the results?

thanks in advance

it should be right after your airbox. you'll see a plug that goes into the tube that connects the engine and airbox.

you can buy some of this to clean the MAF. no you won't have any error codes.

go to your car and follow my directions i promise you'll find it

start from the airbox
locate the big tube (it looks like an accordian) that leads into the engine
you'll find a rubber plug that goes into that tube (that's the MAF)

Does that Really help MPG? Can this be done on my 520i ? Is the MAF located the same place as the Diesel cars?
Thx.

Yes it can be done for the petrol

Not it wont be in exactly the same place as the engines and intakes are different...

It will only make a difference if it needed the cleaning in the first place tho, remember that

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.

I found this. Does this help? http://www.louv.tv/cars/m5/MAF/
