Hi

I have been using this forum and it's search option for months now, and thx for a very good place for information.
But I can't manage to find a answer to my question regarding removing the 6cd-changer from the glovebox, and still
be able to use other devices on the mostbus (L7, bluetooth...). Is it possible to make a fiberloop for passthrough?

The reason why I want this is because I have replaced the cdchanger with a dvdplayer for backseat entertainment.
If anyone wants I could post some pictures of the installation (dvd + 6.5" lcd in the comfortseat headrest).

Hope my English is good enough to let anyone help me.

Buy a OPTICAL FIBER CABLE, CONNECTOR Part # 61136906535 and connect the two ends of the CD Changer to it. That should do it. I just don't know how the car will behave without the device connected.

I too want to do a similar thing but I am actually planning to reposition the CDC in the boot using the DVD bracket that you can buy for the boot. Then I will use the glove box space created to house my USB/HDD media player.

Thank you for the information, I will order one right a way
The following happend to my car when I disconnected: No sound at all from the stereo, no bluetooth symbol in idrive, no pdc, no speech recognition. And maybe more I didn't notice.

If you put the cdc in the trunk I guess you could hookup to the fiber going in on the L7 or is the bus-chainplacement important?

You can't simply disconnect a device because that would break the BUS, hence you need to short the BUS with the part I gave you. I do not think the order of the devices on the BUS matter except if you have connected the iPOD MOST or a Dension type device. Basically all devices annouce themselves with unique ids, the Dension fakes the id of the CDC hence the car doesn't mind but all hell would break loose if the car sensed two CDCs on the BUS, thats the reason why to plug the CDC into the Dension.

If I moved the CDC to the trunk I would take the fiber from the TCU because I dont have the L7 amp but the logic is the same. There is a fiber junction just behind the TCU which makes it a handy place to tap or reroute things.

Talked to my local dealer today, and you are are right about the partnr. But this is most likely not a DIY. They told me you needed special equipment to make a clean cut to make the two ends fit perfectly. I will post pictures of the connected connector after the install is done.

Here are some pictures off the result so far.

6.5" lcd in the headrest with frame hidden under the skin. I have to say it was a little scary cutting in the skin, as
I didn't know if the headrest would be deep enough

dvd placed in the cdc spot, and tomorrow I will finish up with a aux retrofitkit and connect the audio to the car speakers.

Both my kids have a ir-headset in the back, and each have a remote control for selecting av-1, av-2 and poweroff/on

Todo: acm and a carputer in the trunk running mythtv

Did you simply remove the CDC and put that part number to connect the MOST cables to each other? You don't need clean cuts etc because your cables are already cut and put into the CDC socket all you need to do is remove it from the CDC socket and put it into the cable connector.

Yours kids can choose between AV1 and AV2 but what is AV2?

What is that wire you can see in the glove box in front of the DVD? Where did you take the power from - the CDC power itself?
