I am really angry. I just got back from being towed home with my car because it died with a 3/4 tank of gas in it! I was driving home and up a hill and halfway up the hill the car just stopped. I could not get it re-started and I then created a huge traffic jam on a 2 way road with police directing traffic and angry people all around (many were helpful asking if they could do anything).

What the he** happened???? It seemed like a fuel problem! I tried to restart it and it sounded starved of fuel. Has anyone had this problem?????? I was stuck there for 20 minutes while the police were directing traffic around me...

I couldn't believe it!! Man, a new car and it just dies on a hill and won't restart!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually the tow truck came and brought the car home. What a ridiculous thing!

(I have not let it run down low with fuel either).

Sorry to hear about your experience. I haven't heard of this problem before. It may be some kind of timing or spark problem. Let the dealer straighten it out.

This sucks big time.. Especially all the people that did not help you and grinned in the back of their hand while you were having this problem..

I hope this gets sorted soon. Please keep us posted what the outcome of this problem is.. Have you tried starting your car at home yet???

Too bad man. That does suck. Hope it gets fixed soon.

I left this am and got 1/2 mile from my house when I got the exclamaition symbol. IDrive said: Dynamic Drive Failure then Transmission Failure the OBC failure one after the other. Then is said Drive Carefully . The SMG didn't want to shift. I pulled to the side of the road, shut the car off, waited 30 seconds and started it again. Car has been driving fine all day long.

The OBC said faulty ignition problem, take car for maintanance immediately. It also showed a symbol of a car on a repair lift.

The engine continued to turn over and over as if it was trying. If I let it rest for 4-5 minutes, it then seemd to get a bit of fuel and then turned the engine over briefly before dieing again.

I've tried it since getting home and it does the same thing. I've called 24 hours roadside assistance and they are taking it to the dealer. I thought initially that the rest at home might let it get back to normal. I was wondering about it now being flooded, but I guess fuel injection doesn't do that.

It sure seems like the fuel is being starved somehow...

Thanks for all the sympathy. It helps. I'll fill you in when I learn the details from the dealer this week.

I have realized that with BMW and any other high end car, especailly with lots of electronics, they tend to fail MORE than mid end cars. Just my observation.

I would expect that from a YUGO...i dont know about a bimmer. You PAY big BUCKs in a car to be secured/confortable and free from car problems.

It is just not fair.

No offense but, I would be very upset too.

sorry to hear that, gdavis :'(. that really sucks ! i really hate that . not only embarrassed but you somewhat feel guilty because you created the traffic jam. most of the people just slow down and look. most of the time they are the ones creating traffics . hope yours will get fixed soon. good luck .
