I have a 2007 335 and my Idrive let's me know if there is traffice up ahead and even gives me the option to detour. Haven't seen this on my 2004 545. Is this a software update or sopmething else.

Thanks,

assuming you have nav in your 545, you need coding to turn it on. i found the instructions on here, and it works great.

you do not need satellite radio, it pulls traffic updates over FM RDS signals. Your CCC *may* need to be on the newer software (grey main i-drive screen with the four arrows, not the brown one) and then it's just a matter of coding. Mine got a software update when I did the CCC retrofit, so I'm not sure if the older software will support it.

I have a 06 M5. Is the real traffic updates available for this year/model?

Hmmm... I do have nav of course and seems to have the newer grey screen. I also have a sat option, I think the previous owner had the Aux installed and coded but don't have a satellite receiver in the truck.

Yes, just shows some traffic icons right on your map with a message letting you know there is slow traffic up ahead and also gives you the option of a couple detours, if detours are avalible.
