Project Goblin (Matte black vinyl wrap) is progressing nicely. ive learned an awful lot during the process. i made some mistakes here and there and still need to re-wrap the rear bumper and trunk lid (thats where i started the project and have since learned how to follow the contours a lot better).

things left to complete:
  • two door handles
  • OEM M5 Mirrors install w/ coding for autofold (got held up by a seller sending me mis-matched mirrors from an M5/M6)
  • trunk + rear bumper re-wrap
  • touch ups on the front bumper
  • purchase an M5 spoiler and wrap it gloss black (considering a gloss black ACS (replica) roof spoiler, thoughts?
  • bimmian smoked LED side marker lights (my current ones are OEM sidemarkers but wraped in a tinting film, not 100% clean so they gotta go)
  • OEM Gloss Black Kidney Grilles (ditching my gloss painted ones, not perfect so they gotta go)
  • interior trim....piano black and matte black combo....you have to see it in person to really appreciate it...i LOVE it so far....still have some pieces to complete
here are a few progress pics. please forgive the iphone quality photos....once the above list is complete i will have a proper photoshoot completed in downtown Detroit.

hint: my winter wheel set up will be gloss black 19s...but i still love my gunmetal 20" 3 Piece forged Cor Colonials....they will be right back next spring after i break them down, refurb em and have the lips rechromed.

Loving the matte black. What wheels do you have for your winter setup?

Looks great. Nothing like learning something new!

It will be interesting to hear from you over the winter to learn how it is holding up along the edges.

got a set of OEM 166 wheels for $400 that i am refurbing back to life then powdercoating hi gloss black.

im thinking about running 265/35/19 and 245/40/19 for the winter for some added protection against these michigan potholes...worried it might look too beefy tho.

well....its really easy IF you take your OEM M5 mirrors apart and wrap the pieces individually. if youre not up to that....then id go see a pro. you'll see in the photo below (taken about 70% through), i took mine apart and wrapped each piece. using a generous amount of heat (and patience). the first mirror took like 3 hours....the second mirror took only 45 mins once i had my gameplan set.
