After 4 years in a 530d E60 I picked up my new 523i today.
First impressions:
1. Cabin quality - we are talking about a major step up here. Awesome. This is 7 series territory.
2. Performance - kicking myself I didn't get at least the 528i. The chassis is crying out for more power. At least this engine sounds nice at high revs.
3. 8 speed paddle box - verdict is out maybe I was expecting it to feel more like a double clutch. Hate the fact that after going manual with the paddles it reverts back to "D" in a couple of seconds. I would like that to be my decision please.
4. Ambient lighting ...... rocks![Wink](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/wink.gif)
5. VDC - also controls the steering weight and gearbox shift points. Sport is more supple than the standard E60 was. Comfort is stiffer than an E-Class Merc. Overall I like it - the differences between the settings are much more evident than on an airmatic E-Class.
6. Sport seats now have the headrests that extend forward (see pic). In the E60 this was only a feature of Comfort seats
7. When engine is stopped the radio keeps playing after you get out until the car is locked - weird - maybe can be changed in I-drive menu
8. Standard wheels - look so so but the ride is great, jury is out on whether I'll change them.
9. Small screen (no nav) looks a bit sad
10. There's now a trunk unlocking button next to the bonnet release catch.
Enjoy the pics. Will post more once I drive it some more. So far, overall I love it

congrats on your new f10..
I think this is the first AW F10 we've seen here
Thank you for supplying your initial impressions....
when transmission switched back to auto, was the shifter still in "D" or "S" mode. I was recently in a 335xi and the transmission went back to auto if the paddles were not touched, but that only happened if I did not push the shifter over from D to S, if the shifter was in S position, the transmission stayed on paddle control...wonder if that the same for the F10...

Probably the favorable responses from the 3 series.
The radio thing I am noticing that it's starting to be the norm. I have had a few rentals while traveling, and American cars are doing the same as well.
The angel eyes, they look yellow in the outside pic, but at night, they're white-ish?
Are they confirmed to be LEDs?

Yes this feature is nice!!! Lets get our LED experts on this one for an E60. LOL Over all i like the lighting and the interior. Body tho im not too happy about. Looks like a stretched 3 to me. But it is nice cant wait to see one modded out.
