Im currently running the 172s on my e61 with no spacers and no problem and the dont stick out they sit almost flush. I'm running a 275/30/19 on them and was thinking of going with the 285/30/19 also because of the overall rolling diameter. According to willtheyfit.com, the only changes are in the actual ride height which is 3mm, and the overall diameter which is 6mm. Other than that the should maintain the same clearance from the strut. So from the looks of it might be able to pull this off without a spacer, but I'm personally thinking of running 12mm spacers with the 285s just to make it a little more aggressive.

Thanks for the info! Anyway you can get a pic of the wheel/tire poke from the front and uptop?

yes it is an xdrive. And drives with no problems whatsoever. Both cruising with the family, and on my very frequent spirited drives.
sizes:
Front- 19x8.5 et 18mm
245/35/19
Rear- 19x9.5 et 32mm
275/30/19
no spacers. Althought i am thinking of putting a 12mm spacer in the . I think.it will probably make it sit just perfectly flush and give it a Little more of an aggressive stance.

Okay perfect, I guess front there is probably a bit too much poke for my liking on stock height, lowered with more camber should help it to be more flush.
Yeah rear could use a 12 for sure,
Any plans to lower?

Definitely have plans on lowering just haven't decided on what suspension to go with yet. ISC coilovers were my initial, mainly because of cost. but after reading through the forum they don't seem to be highly recommended. So we'll see. Poke dosent bother me as much as the wheel gap. But either way it's only temporary.

Oh yeah low would definitely tuck that in. Yeah initially I had ordered H&R springs to go with my b4 struts but after reading about the harsh ride I cancelled that. I'm looking into doing the ISC fronts now, haven't heard anything bad about them, maybe I haven't looked hard enough lol
