Default Rims for e60 xi

Hello.. I have 2010 e60 528 xdrive

Ive just started looking for rims and it's confusing because alot of sites will list rims as
for XI models only... Can anyone tell me why xi rims woudnt fit on regualr rear wheel dirve versions?
Or are these sites just being stupid

Also I wanted a set of Avante Garde M355. Says not compatiable for my car because of the staggered set up. .Why woudnt i just be able to purchase to front sets so they are all the same width?

Please can someone clarify for me. I have no places I can walk into and ask in RI. So if I buy online i need to make sure they will fit.. Thanks

First about the AWD & RWD wheel ... xi/AWD/x-drive model uses high/big offset (ET) number the same with 3-series (and also the newest F10 5-series) while RWD model uses low/small offset, so if you put xi rims on RWD model the wheel will sit to the inside and may not clear the brake caliper and/or like on the front the tire may not clear the front strut). On the other hand if you put RWD rims on xi model the wheel will stick out and may protrude the fender well may cause rub (and for some undesirable look).

2nd about staggered in which not many understand, xi/AWD/x-drive model have no problem using staggered setup (I've been using staggered setup for over 5 years) what matters is the consistent rolling diameter between the front & rear tire. In your case you should have no problem getting staggered setup Avante Garde M355 just make sure you pick the front & rear set with bigger/larger ET number and of course proper tire sizes or as you already said to keep a square setup just pick all 4 with the front dimension.

There are already many threads here talked about this in detail and you should be able to search them and read thru them if you like to find out more deeper & detail.

GL!

Are you using 10" up front or you mean 9" w/ ET35?

Would one have to instruct the wheel installer of what offset you are looking for? Or is the offset a fixed value depending on tire size/wheel size? E.g. I'll be going 245/40/18 for all 4 with 18" 8.5 wheel all around. (535xi)

Info = Wheel Tech - Offset

Offset is fixed to the wheel and some manufacture may have at least 2 of the same look/kind with big/high offset and also with small/low offset number.
Or some design i.e. OEM BMW M5 (style 166) and/or M6 (style 167) only came with low/small offset number for RWD model fitment.
