Default Abnormal rear tire wear

Just found significant rear tire wear on my 2010 e61 after a 1500 mile road trip.
My local Indy says this is common due to the independent rear suspension.
Local tire guy mentioned a common issue as well. I will ensure the car is 4 wheel aligned by
An appropriate, knowledgable shop with tools needed to perform.
Any thoughts on potential trouble that could be overlooked and/or extra preventative action to ensure
long term even wear?
Fyi stock wheels and 255/50/17 goodyear ls2 run flat tires.
Thx in advance 5series.Net ...

255/50/17 tires? If that is true, then that could be part of your problem. Or is that a typo and should read 225/50/17?

Thank you. Confirmed both tires removed, and installed were 225/50/17.

Could be alignment, faulty wheel bearing or a damaged wheel.
