Why would you want to run ANY tire/rim combination that rubs? All for the sake of style? That's ridiculous in my opinion.

So who are you talking to?

Please realize that you are making an assumption to suggest that people choose different tire/wheel combinations only "for sake of style". Mine was mostly practical purpose of having more sidewall and more ground clearance, both of which increase the practical use for our types of road trips.

I would not however try to use a combination that rubs so much as to wear through a fender liner like when a lowered car causes rubbing inside upper edge of rear fenders.

That is a good reason for increasing sidewall, but when you increase to the point of the wheel well interfering with the steering, you've gone too far.

Well, I guess you're not talking to me because even though one of my front tires barely touches briefly only during specific types of low speed turns, it is otherwise perfection. In fact on mine it also require a certain sloped approach angle and can only be heard if the tire is wet as a little 'squeak'. The microscopic rub is many times outweighed by the benefits.

Default Potential wheel and tire combo

So here is a nice option for my 2008 535Xi, E-61. They are

245/40-19 Front, ET 37 19X8
275/35-19 Rear ET 39 19X9.

The tires are Dunlop run flat SPORT MAXX.

Will this setup work with the bigger offset? I don't want any rubbing.

Also, does anyone regret going 19s instead of 18s? I would hate to break a rim or destroy tires.

You will be alright on stock height. I am pretty sure guys have used those tires sizes lowered.

Those are basically 18" stock sidewalls so being on 19s you shouldn't need to worry. Steer clear of the nastys as best as possible.

Default 19s with h+r and Bilstein b7s

See pics. 2010 535 I xdrive wagon 6MT. I still need to find someone to lower the rear air system a bit as the front has settled. These are BMW M442 (if I remember right) in 8.5 square setup. Minimal investment. Ride sucks with the lowering springs and the sport struts. I’d stick with stock suspension or splurge for front quality coil overs. There is still a gap but it’s lessened. Total setup was $2000 appx with wheels and tires.
