Test the size of your signature here!
#37
Since there have been many complaints with regard to the size of people's signatures (click here to read all about it) and since we've adopted some guidelines for the proper overall signature size (click here to jump to the post where the guidelines are defined), I think this thread will be a great way for people to post a one-line reply to see where the bottom of their signature falls in relation to the bottom of the user information block to the left.
Take a look at the following image and note the red horizontal line that extends from the bottom of my user information across the reply. This red line is the reference that a signature should not cross on a one-line reply. Obviously, if a reply is longer, the signature will cross it but that's expected.

As you can see from the example above, my signature has plenty of room left on it for me to add more text, a picture, or whatever I want. A maximum picture size of 600x100 was chosen in our signature size discussions but I think it's more important to just fit whatever you want into the above dimensions. That way, you can have a slightly larger picture and no text, a bunch of text, or a combination of both, as long as the overall dimension follows these guidelines.
Does that make sense?
Thanks everyone!
[b]EDIT: Since the example above was posted, the forum software was upgraded which changed the way the text under a member's avatar looks (there's no more "member number" line listed). Please try to keep signature sizes close to these original guidelines although clearly they may fall a line or two lower than the "Location:" line...)
