Most certainly there have been good times, and good friendships have been developed.

But, as pole and others have pointed out, we got quantity now and little quality.

I see this digression though as something very different than in the old Roadfly e39 vs e60 days where the arguments were mainly around design, specifically banglebutt and flaming surfaces issues, but not much on the performance side or car size. In the new paradigm, its less about design, per se, and more about performance and class size which cannot be denied.

Oh and the fact that Rudy fails to give his objective writeup can only mean that his silence has spoken loudly, because if the F10 were as good as / or better than the e60 in the most important aspect - driver dynamics, it would have been touted already in paperback

So, we have a different crowd and an inferior new product, hence the little interest in the site these days

BMW dynamics was killed by the green movement, along with high performance Naturally aspired engines, there definitely has been a death in the house

Inferior product???
Did you ever drive F10 550i or just read reviews? I owned both 2005 545i and 2008 550i LCI and think F10 is much better car overall. Engine/transmission is a big improvement over e60. F10 feels very different than e60, no questions about it. Yes, it is bigger, has lighter steering but BMW dynamics is still there.

As funny as you wanted that to be, there is some truth to it. Some (and I did say SOME) of the high posters on here have an inferiority complex and it shows. And they tend to stick together like a high school clique - and act that way too. I understand there is a history and you may know each other and all that, but unless you are the one or two that started this site, or a MOD, you're just another member like the rest of us - yeah you've been around and I can certainly respect that if you act in a manner that deserves respect - and ALOT of you DO - but alot don't too. And not all of us "newbies" are second class citizens who just barely could afford to buy an E60 now that its outdated. In fact it could be argued that we are the smart ones, the ones who waited for all the bugs to be worked out and who won't be eating all that first or second or third year depreciation.

Maybe its time for some new high posters, some newly formed friendships to become the ones who help the newbies coming along. Seems like alot of you are sick and bored of it. What turns me away sometimes is the arrogant attitude some of the members (usually high posters) portray. We're all here to learn, share, and have fun along the way. If you're bored of the site, think its going down hill, whatever, then stay OFF. There are plenty of us who are still learning, still having fun, and making our own relationships and friends. Oh, and if you're one of those with an E60 and are jealous or unable to "upgrade" to the new F10, don't take it out on us. I'm happy, very happy, with my E60 and will be for a long time. I also happened to grow to appreciate the F10 and what it is. I don't hate on it, or the site. Too me its still fairly new and I'm enjoying them both. don't ruin it for me because "you" think you know it all and don't have anything else to learn.

Oh well, my nonsense two cents, FWIW.

Poignant thought. I know a lot of old members here joke openly on the forum which can be misunderstood by others but I don't think they intentially try to belittle anyone. Hopefully none of my posts came across that way at least.

Remember that humor, sarcasm, and tone of voice can be lost over the keyboard.....so where one may view arrogance, others may just view as humor....I think we all can take things personally/too serious at times, but it's all because we are passionate about the car and model we own/drive/are loyal to.........

also: post count and/or join date has nothing to do with how you represent yourself here and how you are perceived by others here....

to the first part of your post - great point well taken.

I believe that some apparently do think post count/join date do count though. And to some extent I think it should. Like I said, RESPECT to those who have been around for a long time, most of them. One would think that someone who's been around for a number of years has been involved with the E60 for just as long and probably knows a lot more than someone who recently joined. Most of you have been more than helpful and respectful, however their is a group out there that appear (as much as one can appear anything on an internet forum), to be arrogant and condescending to others, and it's just getting old.
