I'd like to welcome everyone to the new E60 Forums here at e60.doit.wisc.edu. There are a few other forum sites out there, but I wanted to develop a site dedicated purely to the discussion of E60, and also offer specific forums for its variants, such as M5 and Touring.
Please, feel free to contribute your thoughts, questions, answers, and anything else on the topic of BMW's next-generation 5 Series. If you have any suggestions for additional forum categories, questions, complaints, or any concerns, please feel free to contact me at das@doit.wisc.edu.
I've started with a general E60 forum, a forum devoted to the E60 M5, another for E60 Touring, and a lounge for all other conversation. I hope these forums prove a useful place for information, and for discussion!
Again, welcome.

I'm going to start it out unregistered for now to make it convenient for people to post, and just see how it goes. One thing visitors may like is commenting on news articles as well; starting now, I'll be placing a "Comments" link next to each new item posted on the front page, which will directly link to a forum topic. People can then comment on the stories if they wish.

Honestly, having this new forum is really great. Roadfly was good and all. But that piece of crap forum software is just too old to be useful. Any random person can just post some stupid comment there, light the fire and leave with no trace (you could do some tracing, but...). It is sad. There is no mods around. And then the Roadfly admins have the guts to ask people for money to join the inner circle thing.
Enough of that. Let's talk E60!

Just wondering if anybody knows how well the E60 perform compared to the E39? Does anyboby know the actual performance stats on this car? I'm talking about accelaration times, braking, slalom performance and overall driving feel of the car? How about aerodynamic coefficient and power to weight ratio? I hope somebody out there can share.

Otherwise, all other info is from press releases and other materials. However, all indications seem to be that this car will be an amazing driving machine, and most tend to think even better tham E39, which is a tough act to beat. I would imaging that over the coming weeks we'll begin to see the usual more in-depth reviews with the associated real-world test data.
For now, see the reviews in the "What's new elsewhere" section on the front page of http://e60.doit.wisc.edu/.

Wow, this is such an informative site. So much so that I simply refer customers to this website for the most current info on the new E60. I'm really excited about it and can't wait to go on the "ride and drive" this September at the Texas Motor Speedway (sorry, I'd love to invite you all along but BMW employees only.)

Great site. Good open minded discussions. Roadfly is turning out to be a waste of time with all of the whining trolls. If they don't like the car then don't buy one and find another forum, but leave us to have discussions about the E60.
Keep up the good work.
