I'm all for keeping things simple so implementing the changes proposed by Lomag will most likely be a good thing and as he mentioned, should not affect many people here.

I say go for it. You can always tweak things later, right?

I was just playing with a 500 X 125 image at 72 dpi. It ended up about 80 kb. I am hoping that we can up the allowed enough kbs for an image so that we can get 500 X 125 at 72 dpi. Maybe 90 or 100 kb would be OK. But, additionally, suppose that one wanted to put text on an image. Then doing so would increase the kbs of the image beyond the limit--possibly for no good reason. I am just thinking out load about what would be precluded with the 500 X 125 X 50 kb limit. Honestly, I don't care what is done. I just think that it is better to have a level playing field and that things have been getting out of hand--i.e., becoming more and more inconsistent with the rules that were laid down earlier.

Edit: I have attached the image. It is a JPEG 500 X 125 X 78.34 kbs at 72 dpi.

Edit2: I put some text on the image and inserted it as my sig. It now is a JPEG 500 X 125 X 125 kbs at 72 dpi. So, the text increased the size of the image by about 47 kb.

So, if we are to be allowed to put minimal text on images, then the kb limit would need to be, say, 3 times greater that the proposed 50 kb.

Edit3: I added some links to my sig. Doing so would take my sig above a height of 125. But, I could not yet figure out how to get the links to the side (one or both) of the image in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Edit: Mark, my sig pic now is 96.1 kb.
