This is a question for any of the moderators, Rudy etc....

Is it posible to start a forum under Information for Non dealer recommended shops that service, repair (body work included)or upgrade BMW's. There always seems to be questions relating to this subject all over the world. I think, if an area for that alone is set up, it certainly going to help out a lot of people. This way, instead of constantly doing searchers, we would now have a forum to check.

Its only a thought. It could be like "rate a dealer" the good, bad and the ugly. At least it would be in one spot.

What does the moderators and e60sters think.....any positives or negatives????

He was requesting a non-dealer subforum which I'm not sure would be too popular(??)

It's true that there always seems to be someone asking for a "good bodyshop" in some specific location or a place to get wheels repaired, etc. but I'm not sure if it would warrant another forum.

Maybe a subforum in the current Dealer Purchasing & Service forum? Not sure if it's a good idea or not...

The funny things about this topic...

The shops that you'd trust (or recommend) for work are almost certainly getting dealer overflow work, or they're prime contractor for a given service. You might be getting your car serviced there when you take it to a dealer and not even know it.

For instance - my dealership in MD sends out bodywork, wheel repair, clearbra installs, etc... to Color Crafters. They are also who you would recommend for the best body work in a thread like this, so stockpiling this information might be redundant.

I could name similar shops for mechanical stuff, and I know that these shops take overflow for MB, Porsche, BMW dealers in the area. I'm sure it's the same in other cities too.

As the e60s age, many owners will opt out of warranty renewal programs. The opportunity to share info on quality non- dealer mechanics around the country would be warmly received by all.
