A more sales oriented Classified section

I'm a member of some other boards which seem to have a better Classified section capability that what's been implemented here on IPBoard. Those forums use vBulletin but then the sales experience is much better. Listings stay on only as long as the seller wants or the items are available, there is Paypal integrated into it etc. There is even auctions allowed (but maybe that is going too far.
Is something like this possible here?

Currently not -- IPB doesn't have such options -- just a regular forum structure. Even if it did I'm not sure it's something I'd want to implement..

how about when an item is closed/sold, the OP/seller just shoot an admin or mod a PM to ask them to close/delete the thread?

We don't like to delete threads but closing them after offers have expired is a great idea. The members selling their items would have to let us know though. There is no specific rules for the classifieds section that members have to agree to in order to post. I suppose a sticky thread could be created with some rules/guidelines.
