There's a direct link on the bottom of the forums main index page. It's right above the "Board Statistics" box on the right side. There's a "Delete cookies set by this board" link and then the "Mark all posts as read" link which I use myself all the time.

Also you can click on the IPB logo in front of each forum. This will mark all posts as read in this board. If the IPB logo is blue there are unread posts in it and it's clickable. But this has to be done for each forum...

I am missing the point. I assume you mean "mark all posts that have been read, 'read'" rather than "mark all post read" (which sort of has a double meaning). But, OK, how does it help to do so? Sorry, but I don't get it.

If you are interested in being active in ALL of the forums (not just a part) then 'view new posts', shows you everything that has been posted since your last visit.

I tend to scan down and look at what I am interested in, then mark all posts read to clear the list.

Means you don't end up checking old posts that didn't interest you (or to which you had nothing to add) when you re-visit the site.

I think it's also how 700700 manages to be everywhere at once

Oh, thanks. I see. Makes more sense if you use "view new posts" first. Thanks again.

One more question. If I mark all posts read, then what happens if there is a new post to the thread? Does it now show up as unread? Dumb, I know. On some things, I tend to use slow procedures. Thanks much.

Znod, give it a try. Just click "view new posts" and read anything/everything that appeals to you. Click "view new posts" again to see if anything bumps up to the top (new since you've been reading). Once you have read what you want, press "view new posts" one last time to be sure nothing new has been posted then press "mark all posts as read" to flag them as read.

After that, all you need to do is click "view new posts" again and start the process over again...
