Forum search returns too much

I'm new to 5 series forums - can someone tell me why any search I do returns irrelavant info? For example I'm searching for "545i transmission shudder" and it indicats there are 120 some matches, but the threads are all over the map and have nothing to do with 545 transmissions. What am I doing wrong?

Basic search 101 - When you search for 545i transmission shudder, the search engine is looking for the word 545i OR transmission OR shudder. Any one of those 3 words will generate a result, hence the seemingly "all over the place" results. If you search for "545i transmission shudder" in quotes, the search engine will look for that EXACT phrase, which will generate 1 result - this thread. You have to tell the search engine you want results that 1) contain 545i 2) contain transmission and 3) contain shudder. You do that by placing a + in front of whatever word(s) must be in the thread. So, entering in +545i +transmission +shudder will yield you 6 different topics featuring those words in them. Of course, be sure the Forums option is selected in the Search Section drop down list. The above will also work in Yahoo, Google, and just about every search engine in use. By the same logic, putting a - in front of a word will exclude searches featuring that word (or phrase if enclosed in quotes). Try it :-)
