FAQ entry request

There's a fair amount of discussion on this board about "pre LCI" and "post LCI" E60s for a variety of topics. I've done some research and found this thread, https://5series.net/forums/topic/36460-lci/, but I think this term deserves it's own FAQ, written by one of our astute moderators who can outline exactly what LCI did for the series, and what kinds of components were involved. Does anyone else feel they'd like a better understanding of LCI?

Hope you guys are enjoying a good laugh (...at my expense)
Actually, this was quite helpful, so thank you, Gene! Guess I didn't look hard enough.
I have an '07. Is it possible that I have a "partial" LCI car? Some of the changes I notice on my 530xi (which is not specifically mentioned in the UK detailed changes document, by the way), but others look pre-LCI, like my taillights. I don't think I have LEDs.
