Maybe I'm not using the right apps, but I've tried two of the forum apps in app store and neither has 5series.net

I'm not too upset about it, except I'd love to have push notifications for the forum and simpler interface = easier and faster to load, especially on 3G.

Any words on this?

 

I think the board software will need to be upgraded to version 3.1 before it'll work properly with the IPB iPhone app.

I know Lomag is quite busy right now and I'm not speaking for him but maybe the upgrade can be added to his todo list (not the same as his shiny new "honey do" list) so he can get to it when things slow down a little bit.

(Supposedly, they've improved the search function a bit too in the upgrade so if that's true, it may be a worthy one...)

 

I hope we can get something going here - I've tried the IP boards app just now and it just loads the forums same as safari - just slower

 

I'm too waiting for a faster/better app to read the forum.

 

Are you saying you've tried the IPB iPhone app with a board running version 3.1 or with this board?

If you're testing it on a board running 3.1 and you're not happy with the speed, I'm not sure what else we can do to make you happy...

 

I tried it on this forum and for some reason it takes longer to load. But the entire forum loads - it loads identical to the way it does in Safari, except slower.

My biggest thing is not that its slow, but that it doesn't seem to be optimized for mobile viewing.

 

Well according to some information I saw on the IPB site, version 3.1 is recommended for use with the iPhone app and since we're not running that version, it's hard to say how it'll work if/when we upgrade. Again, it's Lomag's call to do the u/g and I know right now he's pretty tied up...

I will be updating the forum to the latest 3.1.2 version sometime this week, probably tomorrow. Hopefully that will help with the iPhone app plus the new version is supposed to fix a whole bunch of other issues. New software is always are supposed to fix things.. (and usually create new problems too)... *nod*
