Can posts be deleted by the author?

My question is, can an author delete their own post if they change their mind about what they said or if they posted on the wrong forum? You seem to be able to edit, but what about delete the post entirely? Especially if there have been no responses? Please advise. Thanks.

You're able to edit in the first 60 minutes.
You can't delete nor move the thread, and after 60 minutes you can't do anything.
Admins and mods however have the ability to move, edit, delete threads and posts.
So, if you change your mind, get in touch with us and we'll take care.
If you change your mind in the first 60 minutes, edit your post and simply empty it, and edit the title of the thread to *mods: please delete*.

In addition to what Iceman said, keep in mind that we don't always delete a post simply because someone "changed their mind"...
For example, if you post something for sale then change your mind later, if the thread receives replies we may ask you to simply post a new reply indicating you changed your mind.
There really isn't any one hard rule we follow since each situation may warrant a different outcome. We always try to preserve the forum's history so we don't delete posts or threads very often. It's sometimes easier to just update a thread with a new post than to delete it and have everyone ask where it went, etc.
