Car jolts when turned on and when letting go of brake. Automatic trans
This doesn’t happen all the time but now it’s starting to do it more often. I have a 08 528i automatic. When I put my foot on the brake and turn the car on the car jerks. Sounds like it could be the brakes or trans. Also when I’m stopped and I let go of the brake the car sometimes delays to go forward and when it does it also jerks. Feels like the brakes get stuck or something. Has anyone had this problem? And what was the solution ?

yes it has but not by me. It’s a 08 528i with 116k miles. The last owner (with paper work) changed the oil and pan 5k miles before I bought it. Could it be a bushing? It doesn’t do it all the time? Honestly I’m not sure. Maybe I should just get it serviced again. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem. I also hear it could be fixed by a tranny reset

If the last owner just changed the fluid and pan they only performed part of the service. The 4 sealing sleeves and bridge seal also needs to be replaced that sits under the valve body. They get hard over time and crack preventing the right pressure for shifting.

do you have a part number by any chance? And what kind of tranny fluid would you recommend?

In this thread it gives you all the info needed. You can skip the solenoid part if you don't want to do it. I would advise you to do everything as it solves the problem E60s have.

Very easy fix - sleeves/gasket, shift solenoids, problem will be solved. Very DIY capable, and this video shows exactly how to do it:
