Long story short, got new tires mounted for the rear -- air leaked until tire was almost flat -- pumped air and took to Firestone -- unmounted wheel and found a FAT crack on the inside.

How did it happen? I have no idea...but I really need a new non-damaged style 124 rim so my new tires don't go to waste. Much appreciated.

Looks like this.

Same thing happened to me. I need one rear too. Ever think of wheels america? Maybe they can repair hairline cracks.

Send me a pm. I have an extra set of used 124s (staggered). One front and one rear have no welds and are structurally sound. The other front and rear wheels have welds on the inner lip. All have little to some curb rash. I'd say 7.5-8.5/10 on rating the rims.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I hit a pot hole or something and one of the rear wheels would leak air badly. I had to put air in every day. Turns out that there was a weld on the inner lip. I am told that if you go to a quality shop, welds are no problem and should hold up. But others say that the welds are temp fixes and should be replaced. To each his own I guess.

I took it to three different tire shops and they could NOT find a leak. Finally, one shop submerged the entire wheel/tire in water to find the leak but they still could not find it. We had to remove the tire to find what was causing the leak. It turns out that the inner flap/edge of the TIRE itself that creates the seal with the wheel (excuse the wording, it's the best description I could come up with) was slightly cracked and it would ONLY leak when the weight of the car was on it. That explained the phantom leak that we could not find with the water dunk test.

Anyway, I ended up replacing all wheels because I found a deal that I couldn't pass up. Seller did not want to split up the wheels and they were in better condition than my old set.

Again, the wheels are NOT mint. I will take pictures upon request. Also willing to split up the set. I too know how difficult it is to find just one rim.

These wheels are only about $450.00 down at the dealer.

I found a used one down in Gilroy, it was previously cracked as well but the owner fixed it. $100 not bad, has less curb rash than the one I had too.
