I tried painting mine gloss black, but rocks quickly chipped them. These are OEM M5 grilles and look awesome:

Search Part #51712155446 right side, and #51712155447 for left side. I believe they are around $60 each.
This is the best pic I've got. It's a few months old. They really do look great, and hold up very well.

I think I paid around $150 shipped but I love them.
So much better than matte black IMO.

BMW of Morristown has them for $107 shipped on eBay... eBay
