WTB Cable for Coding
#1
So I bought a cable from eBay to do some coding and I'm having issues getting it going. Is there someone who is done with their coding and can sell me their cable that has actually worked?

Look at my profile "About Me", under Accessories, for a link to the cable "BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface". I have coded E60 and E90 with the cable. With the cable and adapter (for backward compatibility), I've coded E46 as well. I use Windows 7 32-bit, INPA, EDIABAS, and NCS Expert. The same vendor and cable are also on eBay. I've paid less than the listed price using the "Make Offer" feature.

Thanks for the info. I already bought a cable from eBay with the same info and I do get to the point of the ignition and battery spots both being black and displaying accurately on INPA. But beyond that I'm getting communication issues trying to access specific modules. I've tried this on 3 different laptops (Xp, Vista and Win 7 all 32-bit). The only thing I have not tried is a different cable and from the prep reading I did on bmwcoding, I saw there was an issue people run into with specific cables. So what I'm trying to do is purchase a 'battle tested' cable and one that's preferably stateside.

I believe I had v.39 files, but I'll take another look. The thing that made me question the cable more than anything is it lights up and as soon as I try to read something, the light goes off and I get the comm. error.

Same here. My cable is up for borrowing till the time you can pay for hassle-free shipping both ways and are relatively a well established member (or are happy to provide a small refundable deposit .. say $50).
You will need to be good at installing the INPA stuff .. it's sort of easy to f'up. Even something basic like not using the same USB port can create issues.
