I just can't get over my grey headliner in my black dash & auburn seats, so I want to swap the headliner and pillars, etc., for black. I don't car if its regular black fabric or alcantera. Anyone know where I can purchase this? Also, how do you find BMW salvage yards?

Me too- when I ordered my car in March '06 it wasn't on the '07 build list. I can't stand the grey but I also don't want to spend >$1k on parts. Do you think it can be dyed black? I would think the pillar covers just pop off while the main headliner could be done in situ. Maybe this is a better route?

I spoke with my local body shop about this very topic yesterday. Actually the father of the guy I spoke with does upholstery work and said that he would replace the fabric. He also said that they would paint all the pillar covers, etc. but doesn't recommend it. I learned that they have to pop out either the front windshield or back window to get the headliner out and a new one in. He said otherwise they tend to bend and you can never get the crease out.

This body shop is pretty much a BMW only body shop and they get two BMWs a week that end up being totaled by the insurance companies. He said the insurance company sells the totaled car to the highest bidder (salvage yard). He is going to give me the name of the salvage yard where a totaled e60 with a black headliner ends up so that I can hopefully purchase the headliner & parts.

I am also looking to replace the headliner with preferably the Alcantera - which is suede like.

I researched the parts and cost for these parts last summer - I may have even posted it.

Thru Garry at Newport BMW with the E60 discount applied - its a pretty pricey mod -

ALCANTERA TOTAL $1855.11 ANTHRACITE TOTAL $1215.38 That's without install. Yikes !

I'd be interested to hear any success stories.
