according to most e60 memebers they are dubbed the hot intake because they soak up all the engine heat. im intrested in it because i wanna see if the lost of power is worth the sound.

I read the other day that an M5 lost somewhere around 20hp? Is it worth it? I would have thought someone could have came up with some kind of rig. to block out the heat (fabricated sheet metal as a block-off plate or so?)

I've been debating on picking up an AFE system, refab. the heat shield myself, then wrap it up with some FatMat to reflect the heat. Think that would work? Know of any good deals running around?
