Will this work on a 2008 E60? Being we are LCI, are our ashtray's different?

When I look up the part numbers on the spec.dock website it lists e60 for years 2004+... so yes, our ashtrays are the same.

Actually, ashtrays on pre-LCI and LCI are very different. But I may help you with that - I'm a pre lci and I'm interested

I bought one of these thinking it was universal... It is not. LCI and pre LCI are totally different.

Do you have another pic of your ashtray?

I don't have any other pictures of this installed.

Before I bought the spec.dock, though, I tried to fabricate my own dock into the ashtray and have a pic of that posted below. Hopefully this will give you an idea of what the ashtray looks like from more of a distance. Since I don't have the car anymore I can't really take any new pics. My ash tray has a wood grain lid that "slides" backward to open.
