I am interested in these 172's as well as the 166 if you are selling them. I can not make up my mind which ones I like better. I just bought an 06 550i and either one of those wheels would look great. I would have sent a PM but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Are the 172's staggered?

Jay - that is a good price, don't worry.

 

Both the 166s and the 172s will make a more dramatic visual impact than the 124s that came with your ride. It's a matter of personal taste. They are both great looking wheels.

i agree...I think I like the finish on the 172's. I think they call it hyper silver.

 

I like 172s better than 166s but I think if you took a poll, more members would prefer the 166s. The only thing about the 172s is that they take some work to clean because the space between the spokes is so small and there are so many of those spaces. But I think that the design is daring and unique.

Re the original post ... I would never consider welding my 172s or any alloy for that matter. I have wrecked two so far and have replaced.
